Another View of Addictions

Dear Friends,

Ran across an interesting article on Huffington Post on addictions. Much of what is in the article can be debated and argued, but much of what is in the article also rings true, especially about concepts of propensity towards boredom and boredom thresholds in addicted persons.

Also if one examines the article in light of a posting I made a few months ago on Tove Lo, one can see how addictions, whether to food, drugs, sex, whatever are an emotional substitute for other needs in one's life. And again, they are habits and I have mentioned before, in the immortal paraphrasing of Mark Twain: habits whether good or bad need to be coaxed rather flung down the stairs.

Healthy Lifestyle Choices

Making Healthy Lifestyle Choices

So, in order to take a bit of a break from all the doom and gloom of what is going on in Gaza and Eastern Ukraine that is in the media right now, I thought I might make an entry on healthy lifestyle choices.

Coincidentally, a local food retailer called Country Grocer which services the area in which I live, is now following on the twitter account attached to this blog, so this week’s topic is a natural fit.

Now, before I begin talking about “making healthy lifestyle choices”, I should preface this by saying that, one has to be very careful about talking about this area of life.
